Introduction
Forty student entrepreneurs are expected to arrive at Stanford University on April 10th to attend ASES’ (Asia-Pacific Student Entrepreneurship Society) 7th annual Summit, a week-long conference hosted by ASES Stanford Chapter from April 10-14th. This year's theme is "One World, One Vision: Connecting Young Entrepreneurs around the Globe." Delegates this year will be comprised of members of ASES from 22 top universities in 10 different countries across the Asia-Pacific. The Summit brings together students and industry leaders from Silicon Valley who are interested in discussing entrepreneurial opportunities in the burgeoning economies of Asia. This years keynote speakers include Tony Luh, Managing Partner of DragonVenture; Sanjay Subhedar, Managing Partner of Storm Ventures; Peter Thiel, Co-Founder of PayPal & President of Clarium Capital; and Elon Musk Founder of SpaceX & Co-Founder of PayPal.

(Lecture) Speaker: Richard Dasher (Director, US-Asia Technology Management Center) In this introductory lecture, Professor Richard Dasher, the ASES Stanford faculty advisor, will discuss the importance of entrepreneurship in a global context. What makes cross-border and cross-cultural entrepreneurship unique and challenging? Professor Dasher will share his insight on what it means to be an entrepreneur in an international context. |

Moderator: Evan Tana Panelists: Sherman Li Garry Tan Alex Liu Many students are eager to pursue careers in the high-tech industry as well as entrepreneurial ventures without fully understanding the necessary steps for success. Hear from former ASES alumni about how they have leveraged their ASES experiences and other university resources in transitioning from student life to the real world. How were they prepared? What caught them by surprise? From personal mistakes and triumphs, they will provide insight into what inspired them to take on the challenges of making the leap into the business world. |

Speaker: Tony Luh The most difficult aspect about starting new businesses stems from the notion of recognizing and constructing a vision. What defines a good idea? How can you utilize your available resources and experiences in seizing opportunities? Come hear Tony Luh speak about his own personal experiences in shaping the ideas for DragonVenture and several early-stage Greater-China-based US companies, and the processes he implemented in turning this vision into a reality. |

| Day Two: Start-Up Skills And Strategies for Young Entrepreneurs | April 11, 2006 |

(Lecture) Speakers: Susan Lansing (Director of Corporate Marketing, Atheros Communications) Branding fundamentals can influence every business from the high-tech start-up to classic, multinational consumer brands. In addition to the typical concerns of obtaining venture-funding, driving product development and the day-to-day requirements of establishing a start-up, branding and communications are core to the successful venture. Some of the more valuable branding fundamentals will be discussed relative to the world of the entrepreneur. |

Moderator: Dan Tran (President, Asia Pacific Student Entrepreneurship Society, Stanford) Panelists: Duc Chau (founder of Flukiest.com) Auren Hoffman (Chairman, Stonebrick Group) Rishi Khaitan (founder of dontbuyjunk.com) What skills and strategies do you need to have as a young entrepreneur? Hear from panelists with recent entrepreneurial experience, people who still remember the trials and concerns that come with starting up a venture for the very first time. They will discuss why they chose the path they chose and what it’s like to not have a “normal” job at a large firm. They will also discuss how they built their venture from just an idea to a thriving business. |
